Student Worker Positions
The School of Music regularly has student worker and graduate student assistant positions available that include accompanying responsibilities. If you are interested in one of these opportunities, please email som@liberty.edu and request further information.
Freelance Pianist List
The School of Music provides a list of qualified pianists who are available for student curricular needs. Students are responsible to secure and compensate accompanists. Please see the above “Guidelines for Vocalists and Instrumentalists” and “Inquiry Email” for expectations that should guide these interactions. Audition for the Freelance Pianist List
Vocal and instrumental students within the School of Music are responsible for securing their own accompanist for lessons and curricular performances. To facilitate a student’s ability to find reliable, professional, and courteous accompanists, the School of Music publishes the Freelance Pianist List.
Auditions for the Freelance Pianist List take place with the School of Music Staff Accompanist. The audition includes the following items:
- Two Pieces: Prepare and perform two contrasting collaborative works (classical art song, aria, music theater song, instrumental sonata, concerto accompaniment, etc.) of your choice.
- History: Provide a brief written or oral history outlining your previous collaborative history in classical, worship, and commercial settings, if applicable. Previous collaborative experience is not required.
- Sight-reading: Sight-read excerpts from collaborative standards. Excerpts will be provided.
Students must complete the audition process during the first or second week of a semester to be included on the Freelance Pianist List for that semester. Students who complete auditions after the second week of a semester will be included in the Freelance Pianist List for the following semester.

Accompanist Request Form
Students pursuing a BM Performance, BM Music Education, or MM Performance degree may request a staff accompanist for junior, senior, and degree recitals. To request this service, please submit the Staff Accompanist Request Form (Recitalists).
