Families of military graduates, as well as military staff and faculty from Liberty University, are invited to attend to celebrate the achievements of these military graduates. There will be a live stream broadcast for those unable to participate in the event in person that will be viewable on the Commencement Livestream Webpage. All graduating military service members and veterans will be presented with a commemorative coin, a cherished tradition at Liberty University. For more information and to RSVP, click here. Military graduates, we want to hear your story to share before the ceremony and in an upcoming graduate edition newsletter. Share your story and encourage students to follow in your steps.

VA Enrollment Manager System Go Live March 6

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has announced that the new VA Enrollment Manager (EM) system went live on March 6, and will be used to report enrollment certifications to the VA to release education benefits for student veterans. The previous system, VA-Once, was sunset on February 24 to prepare for the data migration to the new EM system. There was a 9-day period when no new enrollments or enrollment revisions could be made. For students enrolled in Spring and Summer programs, our office worked diligently to submit enrollments prior to this downtime and will continue submitting them through the new EM system that went live on March 6. During the downtime, Liberty University’s Military Affairs Office posted projected credits on accounts for Financial Check-In (FCI) for paid-to-school benefits (Post-9/11 GI Bill®, Veterans Readiness & Employment benefits), and paid-to-veteran benefit chapters will continue to see a deferred payment plan option in FCI. You will receive an email to your Liberty account after your benefits have been processed. We appreciated your patience during this system downtime and will continue to work diligently to meet your needs.

Why GI Bill Amounts May Change

When a student veteran uses the Post-9/11 GI Bill®, scholarships or aid (that is applied to tuition and fees) must be subtracted from total tuition and fees costs. The remaining tuition and fees are reported to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Scholarships that can be used for more than tuition and fees, such as books and supplies, housing, etc., are not to be subtracted from the calculation of tuition and fees unless the amount exceeds the amount of room and board. As a result, any adjustments to other scholarships or aid on a student’s account can result in an adjustment to the Post-9/11 GI Bill credit. Students will be notified via email if an adjustment in the GI Bill credit is posted to their account at any point in the semester. For any questions regarding these changes, students can contact the Military Affairs Office directly via phone at (855) 355-4947 or vabenefits@liberty.edu.
