Winter 2019 Employee Newsletter

A Word from the President

As Christmas approaches, I am reminded that 2019 has been a great year for Liberty. We’ve had some exciting speakers join us for Convocation, like MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, who kicked off our semester by donating 12,000 pillows; America’s Got Talent winner Kodi Lee; NFL Legend Brett Favre; and businessman Donald Trump Jr. We’ve also opened new buildings, such as the School of Business, and launched programs that will give our students countless opportunities to grow in their future careers. At Liberty, we want to provide the best college experience for our students within a distinctly Christian environment, and we continue to do that with each passing year.

In October, we welcomed thousands of Liberty students, faculty, staff, alumni, and their families back to Liberty Mountain for Homecoming. It was a great weekend of fun and celebration, and I was glad to see so many of our alumni return home.

Over Thanksgiving weekend, our football team made program history after defeating New Mexico State 49-28 in the season finale. We will be playing Georgia Southern at the Cure Bowl in Orlando, Fla., on Saturday, Dec. 21, so be sure to support our Liberty Flames in this historic game. We are excited to compete among the top football programs in the nation, and we know this is only the beginning.

We also recently held the annual Christmas Tree Lighting on the Academic Lawn. It is always a privilege to see the Liberty family come together in celebration, especially for such a special season.  In appreciation for all that you do, and in celebration of the Christmas season, I want to invite you to the annual employee Christmas party on Thursday, Dec. 12.

God has continued to bless Liberty over the years because of your hard work and constant prayers. I’m grateful to have so many incredible men and women serving at this school. Thank you for all you do for our students, our community, and one another.

Becki and I wish you all the best for the remainder of 2019 and a very Merry Christmas!

Jerry Falwell
President

AnchorSchool of Music’s Christmas on the Boulevard

The School of Music celebrated the holiday season with Christmas on the Boulevard, a series of musical events, last week. The Liberty University Symphony Orchestra, faculty performers, a 300-voice choir, and other artists came together to honor the birth of our savior Jesus Christ through a variety of programs, including Christmas Ornaments and Amahl and the Night Visitors. The President’s Encore Performance sold out days in advance!

If you missed out on this year’s Christmas on the Boulevard, stay tuned for next year’s performances — you won’t want to miss these evenings of musical worship.
