Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine (LUCOM) – American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians Gynecologists (ACOOG) hosted William R. Lile Jr., DO, on Tuesday, Sept. 19, at the Center for Medical and Health Sciences (CMHS).
Dr. Lile received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – School of Osteopathic Medicine in 1993 then completed an Obstetrics and Gynecology residency through University of Florida College of Medicine at Sacred Heart Hospital, Pensacola. He is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology.
Speaking about his career as a high-risk Obstetrician Gynecologist, Dr. Lile highlighted the year 1999, when he bought out a practice that provided abortions in Pensacola, Fl. “When I took over the clinic, I heard a small voice from God telling me how I was going to serve Him.” Addressing the students directly, he said, “God has a plan to use you and I just want to encourage you to listen to that small voice.”
After purchasing the practice, Dr. Lile created a name for himself as the ProLifeDoc. Through his online resources, Dr. Lile is dedicated to sharing the truth about abortions and the value a baby has within-and-out of the womb. Using visual technology of modern obstetrics, abortion videos and statistics, as well as, Biblical scripture, it his mission to fight for all life.
“A patient is a person, no matter how small they are,” said Dr. Lile. “I truly believe that a mother’s body is the life support for a baby, but the moment of conception, the child has its own DNA, and at that point I consider it a human being.”
Dr. Lile emphasized that student-doctors should not only take care of their patients, but to also be their voice. “You are going to excel as a physician. You are entering a field where you will be working with God’s miracle of life, but there is a lot of evil out there.” He then challenged them to use their minds and their judgement for the greater good of their patients. “My plea for you is that you listen to your calling from the voice of God and take advantage of the opportunity to serve his kingdom,” he concluded.
Dr. Lile was visiting Lynchburg to attend an event at the Blue Ridge Pregnancy Center and spent part of his day at LUCOM to speak to ACOOG members.
“He offered student-doctors a unique perspective of being a Christian physician in field that is very often full of politics and controversy,” said Yevgeniy Luts, a second-year student-doctor. “His presentation brought to light the importance of treating both the mother and her fetus as your patients and considering the impacts of both when making clinical decisions.”
While every student at LUCOM may not pursue OBGYN, Dr. Lile's presentation undoubtedly helped the audience expand their knowledge and appreciation of women's health.
