Merry Christmas
From the Gospel of Luke (New International Version), Chapter Two
2 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 And everyone went to their own town to register.
4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.
8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”
16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.
21 On the eighth day, when it was time to circumcise the child, he was named Jesus, the name the angel had given him before he was conceived.

The Legacy Continues (Part Three)
To help acclimate you to LUCOM prior to next summer’s orientation, LUCOM Admissions invites you to meet Harrison, Taylor, Brenner, Andrew, and Hannah as they share a brief message about why they chose osteopathic medicine. Watch their story on Vimeo.
LUCOM Student Organizations Take Action
Student Government Association (SGA) | Stress Less Fest
SGA sponsored a week of activities led by the LUCOM Wellness Committee to encourage mental health safe space discussions, host a mental health workshop for students, and have a sunset yoga event to boost mental and physical health. Gregory Mears, PhD, academic counselor, spoke about managing stress and maintaining mental health.
National Osteopathic Women’s Physicians Association (NOWPA) | Women in Medicine
Olubukola Ojuola, MD, MPH, PGDEpid, FAAP, chair and associate professor of pediatrics; along with Betsy Schloo, MD, associate professor of pathology; and Catherine Schuller, MD, FACOG, assistant professor of women’s health; and other women physicians spoke as part of the Women in Medicine panel. Members also worked with Girls on the Run 5K, a national organization that serves to empower and mentor girls in middle and high school and help them get stronger physically, academically, and mentally. During the 5K, Liberty University osteopathic medical students assisted with providing first-aid, water distribution, and other supportive services.
Emergency Medical Interest Group (EMIG) and American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP) | Mass Casualty Event
The annual mass casualty event allowed student-doctors to experience the simulated effects of a tornado and to practice the required actions to treat patients after the occurrence.
Medical Outreach Interest Group (MOIG) | Medical Missions
The club hosted a meeting to provide first-year medical students with information about medical missions opportunities available during their spring or summer breaks. Davis Melin and Jessica Hembree shared their experience with Samaritan’s Purse in El Salvador last summer, and Thuy-Linh Nguyen spoke about her past medical mission trip experiences.
Sigma Sigma Phi (SSP) | Holiday Cards for Hospitalized Kids

As a newly accepted student to LUCOM, we encourage you to join the LUCOM Class of 2027 Facebook Group — you will need a Facebook account to do so. Once logged into Facebook, search for “LUCOM Class of 2027” and request to join. You should be granted access quickly. This is a private group for accepted students only. In previous years, this group has helped incoming Liberty University osteopathic medicine students connect with each other before orientation and find roommates.
Follow LUCOM on Instagram and be sure to Like our Facebook Business Page.
Plans
Students often apply to other medical schools, and some receive multiple acceptances. Should your plans change and you decide to purse your medical training at another program and location, please let us know promptly via email to LUCOMAdmissions@liberty.edu. When you send an update to not attend LUCOM, we can make your seat available to another applicant. Thank you in advance for informing us of your plans.
