Nutramax Laboratories Scholarship

Program Overview

Nutramax Laboratories Consumer Care, Inc. is a Christian-based company that focuses on researching and developing products for consumer health. The overall mission of the scholarship program is to recruit qualified students interested in gaining experience and an understanding of nutraceutical research. The goal of this laboratory-based biological research program is to expose students to laboratory research directed toward understanding the biological activity of natural compounds. Interns apply state-of-the-art technology in their own research projects under the direction of the Translational Research Lab Director. Research projects focus on how natural compounds can help to support wellness on the cellular level. Scientific approaches include Real-time PCR to measure gene expression, Western blot analysis, and ELISAs to observe changes in protein expression and cellular signaling.

Nutramax is offering a $10,000 scholarship for one student to participate in this meaningful research and application opportunity. The selected recipient will travel to Edgewood, Maryland to conduct research at Nutramax Laboratories during the LUCOM-designated research elective period of June 29 – July 24, 2020. Nutramax will provide housing and a daily stipend for the duration of the internship. Upon successful completion of the research requirements, the scholarship will be applied to the student’s second year of medical school. All applications will be reviewed by the LUCOM Scholarships, Honors, and Awards Committee, and applicants will be notified of the decision by mid-April.
