Liberty University Law Review to host symposium with leading experts in artificial intelligence
Lynchburg, Va. — Liberty University Law Review (LULR) will present its annual spring symposium on March 1 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the School of Law Supreme Courtroom.
The symposium, titled “Artificial Intelligence, Authentic Conversations” will focus on the impact of artificial intelligence on different areas of law, policy, and business from a Christian worldview.
LULR will welcome Kevin Alwell from OpenAI, who will provide a slew of information about artificial intelligence. He will give students a robust definition, address common misconceptions about AI, and explain how and why AI has advanced so quickly.
He will then be joined by panelists Greg Petroff and Lauren McKelvey, who are partners at Reitler, Kailas, & Rosenblatt, LLP, to discuss AI’s impact on businesses. Petroff is a corporate lawyer who focuses on mergers, acquisitions, and general corporate matters. McKelvey, also a corporate attorney, advises clients on how AI impacts their businesses.
The audience will also hear from several government and policy experts, including Jennifer Huddleston, a senior fellow in technology policy at the CATO Institute, who will discuss AI’s influence on government and policy.
Following lunch, local attorney Andrew Connors — joined by George Washington School of Law Professor Steven Tepp and Southern Illinois University School of Law Professor Zvi Rosen — will discuss the benefits and challenges facing intellectual property.
The afternoon session will feature keynote speaker Ruth Okediji, professor of law at Harvard Law School. Okediji is internationally renowned for her knowledge of intellectual property, contract law, and technology and policy.
The event is open to Liberty students, faculty and staff, alumni, and members of the local community. Lunch is provided.
