Encountering an Issue with Canvas?

If you experience a technical issue within your Canvas course, follow the steps listed in this knowledge article to clear your browser’s temporary files.  If the issue persists, please submit a ticket to report the issue.  You may also call or chat the IT HelpDesk for further assistance or more information.


IT HelpDesk Support

The IT HelpDesk provides support for the following items:

  • Account login issues **
  • Technical issues preventing access to Canvas (page load issues, etc.)
  • Technical issues within the Canvas course environment **
  • Registered Canvas courses not displayed
  • Microsoft Office 365 application installation (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)

Limited Support

Please be advised of the following limitations on the support that the IT HelpDesk provides in the sections below.

  • Assignment Help:  The IT HelpDesk is unable to provide assistance with the formatting or completion of any course assignment, graded or ungraded, per the  Student Honor Code.
    • For formatting assistance, students should reference our knowledge base article:  How do I get help with formatting my papers?
    • If assignment instructions are unclear, students should contact the professor for clarification.
  • Assignment Deletion or Resets:  The IT HelpDesk is unable to reset, delete or modify any student submissions within the Learning Environment; this includes:
    • Assignment Submissions
    • Quizzes or Exams
    • Discussion Board Posts or Replies
      Note:  Students will need to reach out to the professor for assistance with these issues, as only the instructors within the course have the ability to perform these changes or reset the submission attempts.
  • Third-Party Account Login Issues:  Courses may require creating and signing into a separate account to access third-party content, such as Tevera, Cengage Mindtap, McGraw-Hill Connect, and Pearson.
    • The IT HelpDesk is unable to resolve login issues with third-party resources.
    • Students should contact the third-party vendor directly to resolve login issues (see the third-party FAQs section for 3rd party resource contact information).
  • Mobile device functionality:  The IT HelpDesk is able to offer limited troubleshooting for Canvas functionality on mobile devices.
    • Certain course elements and page content cannot be designed to function properly on mobile devices, due to limitations of those operating systems.
    • Students should use a personal computer whenever possible, as complete mobile device functionality cannot be guaranteed.
