Message from the Dean

The School of Health Sciences is committed to training health professionals who will advance the health and well-being of the Commonwealth and beyond, while also meeting healthcare workforce needs. We will become a national and international leader in health, wellness, and science education through excellence and innovation in teaching, research, scholarship, and service. To this end, the School of Health Science is uniquely poised to make significant strides toward this vision.

Although our school is just over 10 years old, the efforts of our students, faculty, and staff have significantly impacted our regional and global communities. The School is dedicated to creating a learning environment that promotes excellence and embraces creativity and innovation. We are on our way to becoming a leader in undergraduate and graduate-level training in biological, biomedical, and translational sciences; allied health and rehabilitation sciences; and public health. Our motivated and talented students, determined to achieve their academic goals, are learning in an environment that is preparing them to solve complex biological, health care, and public health problems from talented and creative faculty, researchers, and practitioners who are passionate about making the world a healthy place to live and thrive. We are committed to providing exceptional educational experiences that prepare our graduates to become influential professionals in their respective fields. There is, of course, much work to be done.

With this as the backdrop, we are preparing the next generation of researchers, scientists, educators, and health professionals who will further science, healthcare, and public health. Out of our vision, we have identified our Core Values and Strategic Priorities that will be our North Star, guiding us to fulfill The School’s mission.
