Office Overview
ODAS works to ensure that students with disabilities receive equal access to opportunities without barriers to instruction, in compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act. ODAS interprets disability documentation and then determines appropriate accommodations through an interactive process with each student. These accommodations serve to “level the playing field” between students who have documented disabilities and those who do not.
We put reasonable accommodations in place and advocate for students as needed. We also direct them toward professors’ office hours and campus resources for additional support.
We partner with faculty to ensure they are equipped to facilitate their students’ accommodations, and consult on accessibility questions that arise. Educational material to help professors understand a variety of disabilities is in development.
