Liberty hosted more than 600 nursing students, educators and medical professionals for the Virginia Nursing Student Association’s (VNSA) annual conference Feb. 5. This was the first time in the conference’s 59-year history that the event has been held at a school.

Local multimedia art group Mediumless will hold its first showcase of the new year on Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 6 p.m. in the Howery Mezzanine Roanoke Main Library. The opening gala, in collaboration with Roanoke group Emerging Artists, will be presenting “Lynchburg in Roanoke” which will showcase and promote the artwork of three members from Mediumless.

The Wedding Planner Society (WPS) offered opportunities for everyone at their first new member interest meeting of the semester on Thursday, Jan. 27. The meeting was held to inform future members of how to join WPS and what kinds of activities they can expect to do as members. WPS was founded by President Kelley Rucker in the spring of 2010.

Tyler Ellwein, known as TJ to friends and family, is a freshman athletic training major at Liberty. He likes baseball, basketball, working out at the LaHaye Student Center and going on adventures with his friends. Tyler Ellwein is also an Eagle Scout and was recently one of four Eagle Scouts across the U.S. nominated for the Congressional Medal of Honor American Spirit Award.

The Commuter Affairs Office (CAO) helped students start the semester bright and early with their Commuter Coffee Kick Off. CAO staff passed out free coffee and snacks to students coming onto campus for their first classes of the semester. The CAO has held this event every semester since fall 2009 to establish themselves with commuter students.
