LO Worship Shares God’s Truth Through Worship Songs

Former “Duck Dynasty” star and Christian speaker Sadie Robertson Huff helped write LO Worship band’s new single “Mirror,” which released last month. Comprised of worship leaders Reeves Walker, Kaylea Mayo and Liberty University student Laela Dasher, LO Worship band has produced many albums and singles since their launch in 2020. Ever since, the band has gained over 566,033 monthly listeners on Spotify and 33.3k followers on Instagram.

Huff has been an integral part of the band from the beginning. In 2020, she launched her record label and publishing group, LO Worship, as well as the band of the same name out of a desire to support others in their relationship with Jesus.

“People don’t always remember a 40-minute sermon — but they do remember a song. I wanted to help people find the words to sing over themselves in hard times. Worship has always done that for me,” Huff said in an interview with Movieguide. “LO Worship is a group of friends, songwriters and musicians that I have gathered together to use their gifting to write songs which magnify Jesus and lead people to that encounter with Him.”

The record label and band are an extension of her lifestyle and ministry brand, Live Original, which she founded in 2014 as a place for women to experience the gospel of Jesus. Through Live Original’s blog, conferences and events, podcast and app, Huff and her colleagues hope to be a sister and friend to all, encouraging young women to walk in faith.

Huff said in a social media post, she wrote and performed the song, “Mirror,” with the purpose of encouraging young women to find freedom from insecurity. She was inspired to create the song because of her own struggles with body dysmorphia and hopes listeners will look to God for validation rather than to the world for approval.

“I was not planning on writing based on my own experience that day. I thought I would help tell everyone else’s story – until someone mentioned writing on body image,” Huff said in a TikTok post. “As we started talking about what girls needed to hear, I sat there quietly, thinking, ‘that’s actually what I needed to hear.’”

These encouraging and uplifting messages are central in the band’s 2023 album “Holy in My Heart,” which praises the holiness of God and the joy of feeling his presence.

“Mirror” and the songs from “Holy in My Heart” sound very similar to many other worship songs; however, their simple production allows the true meaning behind the lyrics to shine through. Jesus, not the artistry of the band or the voice of the singer, is at the center of it all, deserving of all the glory and the praise.
