Braylin Miller makes a plan for Blossom Ridge Christian Camp

Sometimes God can show us an opportunity to serve while going about our normal daily lives.

That happened to senior Braylin Miller this year while she was involved in Liberty’s COAL  (Camp and Outdoor Adventure Leadership) program. Miller is starting a Christian summer camp named Blossom Ridge Christian Camps in her hometown of West Jefferson, North Carolina.

The opening of the camp has not been set yet, but Miller and her family are in the process of purchasing the land. From day one, her parents knew she would be in ministry, and God worked it out.

“I’ve never been a camper before and honestly never even knew what a Christian summer camp consisted of until I came to Liberty and found out about the COAL program,” Miller said. “I started doing this project in my first COAL class to make a real summer camp, and I knew God was saying to me to make it come to life.”

 

Miller said that she hopes campers are able to able to spiritually mature through outdoor adventure at their time at Blossom Ridge Christian Camps.

“The mission statement of Blossom Ridge Christian Camps is to provide an opportunity for students to hear the gospel and spiritually mature through discipleship and outdoor adventure,” Miller said.

She envisions a camp where students experience the joy of outdoor exploration and have the opportunity to reflect on the values embedded in the gospel.

Miller chose her hometown because she realized there was not a summer camp within a two hour radius. She saw an opportunity to create a positive and enriching experience for local children and families. She hopes to provide a space for education, recreation and spiritual growth.

The co-ed style camp will be focused on ages 7-17. There will be a leadership program for students 15 and older. The boys and girls will have separate cabins and then come together for worship and meals.

The incorporation of worship sessions reinforces the camp’s spiritual mission and provides a communal space for reflection. Shared meals become opportunities for building friendships and strengthens the sense of community, ensuring that the co-ed structure enhances the overall camp experience.

Recognizing the challenges and responsibilities involved in this venture, she hopes people will join her in prayer as she seeks wisdom and guidance throughout this process.

“The COAL program here completely changed my life, and I am so glad God led me to start a camp,” Miller said.
