Liberty to welcome Tauren Wells, platinum-selling Christian artist

Tauren Wells, a platinum-selling contemporary Christian recording artist, will bring his talents to the Vines Center for one of the biggest concerts of the year Friday, Sept. 22.

Known for his dynamic singing talent and proficiency with numerous instruments, Wells will bring a collection of his meaningful songs for the audience to enjoy.

Students like senior Tiana Carter who have been longtime fans of Wells cannot wait to attend this concert.

“I started listening to Tauren when I was 19 years old,” Carter said. “He visited Elevation Church and I have been listening to his music ever since.”

The 10-time Grammy nominee will star in the first concert held by Liberty’s Student Activities for the 2023 fall semester. Director of Student Activities Cort Comfort adds to the excited crowd awaiting Wells’ arrival.

“This will be his first time on campus, and simply put, he is an electric entertainer,” Comfort said. “His music is incredible, energetic and unique, but his ability to perform is something really special and can only be witnessed in person.”

For senior Leah Carneal, Wells has been a part of her life ever since she was a little girl.

“I remember (when) I first discovered Tauren Wells, he was with the group called Royal Tailor,” Carneal said. “I grew up listening to Christian music in the car, and when he started his solo career, I just kept listening to him.”

Now, coming full circle, Carneal is excited to be able to hear Wells once again, but this time live inperson.

“Being able to see him in person would be a dream of mine,” Carneal said. “Like, I just imagine myself going back in time and telling my younger self that the person I was listening to, I would be seeing live in concert, which is so bizarre to me.”

The students at Liberty are very familiar with the upbeat concerts that are held here on campus.

Comfort emphasizes just how big of a concert this one will be for the campus.

“We are definitely going to have a big audience,” Comfort said. “Students are no strangers to incredible performances. With groups like the Liberty Worship Collective, LU Praise and events like Coffeehouse and Block Party, students get to see amazing performances all year long. But Tauren is different.”

Students can head to the Student Activities website, and get a discounted ticket.

For only $10, students can experience a night of fun-filled music.

“We are seeing a lot of students take advantage of their discounts for shows like this, but the local Lynchburg community seems to be very interested as well,” Comfort said. “It’ll be a great show.”
