1.Guantanamo No More?

If President Obama has it his way, that will be the case. Obama isn’t letting the lame duck portion of his term hold him back, making the push to accomplish something he’s wanted to do for a couple of years. Not too many people are happy with the President’s proposal, including a couple of guys hoping to take over as the commander-in-chief in 2017. Gitmo’s gotta go, but not without a fight from Congress, which is expected to shut down Obama’s plan and keep the detainees from entering the U.S.

2. Nevada Caucus
There’s nothing like Tuesday night during an election year. Feb. 23 proved to be another interesting night for The Donald, who won big with Republican voters who are not feeling the establishment. Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton won the majority of the delegates, followed by Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz, who polled neck and neck. But the big win also came with criticism, as the caucus sites were apparently a disaster. And for those of you who still aren’t quite sure what a caucus is, this should help.

3.  #FreeKesha
The music world was in shock this week as singer Ke$ha’s plea to be let out of her contract with Sony’s Kemosabe record label was denied, forcing her to continue working under her alleged rapist, producer Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald. Fans and celebrities alike came to the singer’s defense, tweeting out their support with the hashtag “Free Kesha.” Taylor Swift even donated $250,000 to the cause. The pop star has accused Gottwald of being both physically and psychologically abusive since the two began working together back in 2005. Gottwald denies the claims.

4. Kalamazoo
Uber-driver Jason Brian Dalton has been charged with six counts of murder after ravaging the town of Kalamazoo, Michigan on a shooting spree Saturday, Feb. 20. Dalton, a married father of two, didn’t appear to have a history of mental health issues before carrying out the attacks. A local news station has even reported that Dalton took fares in between shootings. According to multiple records, the shootings appear to have been random, and there’s no known motive for his actions.

5. Supreme Court Justice
It’s been over a week since the death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, and things have gotten interesting in Washington as efforts are being made to replace him. Many have expressed concern over nominations being made during an election year, and interestingly enough, Vice President Joe Biden is one of them. Footage from 1992 C-SPAN recording has surfaced, and in it, Biden opposed the selection of a new justice before a new administration takes over. That’s pretty awkward considering the circumstances he finds himself in now. Obama’s nomination is expected to come soon, but Senate Republicans want no part of it.
