Women In Business Club Helps Create Community For Female Business Students

Women in Business (WIB) is a well-known club at Liberty University that creates a community for female students who are pursuing a degree within the business field. The club also gives students the opportunity to elevate their professional wardrobe on a budget.
WIB promotes professionalism and real-world connections by creating networking events for female students to take advantage of. Every month the club hosts events that foster community among students. These events include tea parties, panels and speeches from women within the community and craft activities.
The vice president of the club, Olivia Smith, said the mission of the club is “to cultivate a Christ-centered community where aspiring businesswomen are empowered, equipped and inspired to grow personally, professionally and spiritually, preparing them to thrive in their careers post-graduation.”
WIB’s Director of Apparel and Dress for Success Closet, Grace Mayes, created an opportunity for students to add to their closet by taking her love for the professional world and combining it with her passion for affordable fashion.
“Say you have a presentation in class, or you have an interview that you’re really excited about, but you have no clothes to wear, this is where we come in,” Mayes said.
Professor Kristin Boyce, the faculty advisor of WIB, said that the closet offers business professional attire at a fraction of retail price. Mayes stressed that pricing at the closet is very inexpensive. Blazers, blouses and dress pants can be purchased for just a few dollars.
Smith said that the Dress for Success Closet has greatly contributed to the mission of WIB by helping women grow in their professionalism through purchasing appropriate attire as they step into interviews and presentations. WIB has shown a tremendous amount of kindness and love for women at Liberty by offering the Dress for Success Closet as a resource.
According to Smith, the club looks forward to expanding the closet’s clothing options.
“We have been working on designing our own Women in Business Club merchandise that we will sell at our Dress for Success Closet,” Smith said.
This new merchandise will be released in the fall and will be sold through the 2025-2026 school year.
Students can expect to find the Dress for Success closet at every WIB event, and on occasion in the School of Business as a pop-up shop. To find a full listing of events and information on how to join this group, visit their Instagram page: @luwomeninbusiness.
