Student Activities Hosts Slumber Party Event October 4

Student Activities hosted its first ever Slumber Party event Friday Oct. 4 in the LaHaye Event Space. The event kicked off the weekend with nostalgic, sleepover-themed activities for the student body to enjoy ahead of fall break.
Special Events Manager Anna Pender said that this new idea intended to provide a lighthearted space of fun for students to unwind amid the daily grind of college life.
“Liberty is a campus with a curfew, so it can be hard to plan true sleepovers, so we’ve really tried to recreate the feeling of a slumber party,” Pender said.
This welcoming atmosphere was enhanced by offering classic video games on the Wii and hosting a karaoke competition. Along with their esteemed title, the winner, Quonetta Stoetling, got to take home a weighted dino plushy and a Domino’s gift card.

Throughout the course of the night, students also had the option to play card games with their friends.
Student Activities also supplied a wide variety of craft options for attendees to enjoy throughout the course of the night. At the craft tables, students could create friendship bracelets and try their hand at rainbow scratch art.
Each aspect of this event was meant to invoke nostalgic childhood memories and make Liberty University feel like home.
The available snack options also fit the slumber party theme. In addition to popcorn with candy toppings, Insomnia Cookies were also provided.
“Slumber Party is unique to the student body because it gives them an opportunity to come together in a setting that’s different from spaces they’d usually be, like class, doing homework in the library or even hanging out in their hall common area,” Pender said. “This event opens doors to some new friendships with people that may never cross paths anywhere else.”
Student Activities will continue to host a variety of events this semester, including its recurring Open Mic on Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. For a full list of upcoming events, visit www.liberty.edu/sa.
