Nearly 1.5 Million Ram Trucks Recalled

Nearly 1.5 million Ram trucks have been recalled to fix a software bug that affects the stability control of the vehicles.

Stellantis, the manufacturer of Ram and many other brands, recalled trucks due to concerns with anti-lock brakes on Sept. 7. According to AP News, “Stellantis said in a statement Saturday that the trucks may have anti-lock brake software that could inadvertently shut down the stability control, which manages the throttle and brakes to avoid skidding.”

This issue could be detrimental to owners as it has the potential to affect the on-road safety of almost 1.5 million of these vehicles, which are popular in the United States.

According to U.S. News and World Report, “Dealers will update software to fix the problem at no cost to owners, who will be notified by letters starting Oct. 3.”

In the case that the stability control was shut down, Stellantis said that the brakes would still work. Without any on-road issues currently, the company appears to be stopping the issue before it becomes a larger problem.

Stellantis developed from the merger of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and PSA Group in 2021. Based out of the Netherlands, this company owns brands such as Jeep, Dodge, Fiat, Ram Trucks and more.
