Eight Bulls Escape From Boston Rodeo

A rodeo moved to the streets of Massachusetts after eight bulls broke through a chain link fence Sept. 22.

Witnesses captured video recordings that showed people at the Emerald Square Mall running from the commotion and fleeing the bulls, according to ABC News.

Attendees at the Festival Rodeo, held in a mall parking lot, experienced the unexpected when the animals ran through the crowds and knocked over fences during their escape, according to NBC Boston.

First responders attempted to corral the bulls and issued warnings. According to The Associated Press, “The North Attleboro Fire Department issued a warning: These rodeo bulls weren’t playing around.”

Shortly afterward, the New England Rodeo released on its social media the plan to help first responders in the search.

“These bulls are not associated with New England Rodeo. We are sending our Wranglers out to assist in the search of the bulls. … These animals are probably scared and need assistance,” New England Rodeo wrote on its social media.

After heading toward a busy highway and finding freedom in some nearby woods, the bulls were eventually herded by the fire department. As of 4:10 p.m. on Sept. 22, only one bull remained loose, according to ABC News.

Civilians have been instructed to remain aware. Authorities have warned the community to exercise caution and to not approach the remaining bull, according to WCVB.

According to an official report by Chief Christopher Coleman of the North Attleboro Fire Department, “No injuries were reported. The rodeo, a one-day event at the mall, is currently under investigation.”
