AIGA club to host graphic design event featuring Austin Reddington

Liberty University’s American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) chapter will be hosting an event featuring Austin Reddington, a graphics producer for Liberty’s Flames Central sports program, Oct. 15 at 6:30 p.m.

AIGA is a national organization, and Liberty has its own student-led chapter. Liberty’s AIGA hosts multiple events throughout the semester for those interested in graphic arts.

“We aim to bring students together and refine (their) skills,” AIGA secretary Olivia Hess said. “We try to find what they might be wanting to know more and expand on that with specific events to help students.”

Liberty’s AIGA decided to bring in Reddington after seeing an increased need for more education on motion graphics. According to mowe.studio, motion graphics are essentially graphics created with “elements of time and space.” Hess said some examples of motion graphics include logos and brands that have motion added to them.

“Liberty has one class for motion graphics, and I’ve talked to many people who are interested in it,” Hess said.

For this presentation, Reddington will be focusing on his experience with motion graphic work. Students will be able to interact with and glean knowledge from Reddington’s expertise.

“It’s not something people often get the chance to (learn) about,” Hess said.

Reddington is an award-winning artist, winning two Emmys in the category of graphic arts at the Capital Emmy Awards in 2023 and 2024, according to the Capital Emmys. He won both awards while on staff at Flames Central.

For his work, Reddington specializes in 3D animation and motion graphics. To preview some of his work, visit www.austinreddington.com.

All students are invited to join AIGA for this event, no matter their major.

“You don’t have to specifically be a graphic design major. … The events we hold are for anyone who wants to come,” Hess said.

Over the remainder of the fall semester, AIGA will be hosting two additional events, including a presentation from a Lynchburg-based media company, Odd+Even. For more information and updates, follow AIGA on Instagram (@aigaliberty).
