‘America’s Got Talent’ star Jane “Nightbirde” Marczewski dies at 31 after long battle with cancer

Liberty alumna and singer Jane Marczewski, known by her stage name Nightbirde, who gained a strong following after her inspiring story and talent featured on “America’s Got Talent,” died after a four-year battle with breast cancer.

According to CNN, Nightbirde passed away Feb. 19 — her family devastated but hopeful that her legacy will continue on.

“Those who knew her, enjoyed her larger-than-life personality and sense of humor. She had a witty joke for every occasion — even if the joke was on her,” her family added. “Her lasting legacy will be the gift of hope she gave to so many through her music and the strength she found in Jesus. We thank everyone for their messages of love and support.”

Nightbirde’s “America’s Got Talent” audition of an original song titled “it’s OK” went viral after judge Simon Cowell hit the golden buzzer — sending her straight to the live shows.

Despite the odds of her health not being in favor, Nightbirde’s positive attitude remained.

“I have a 2% chance of survival, but 2% is not 0%. 2% is something and I wish people knew how amazing it is,” said Marczewski on AGT.

Just shy of two months after her audition aired, Nighbirde had to withdraw from AGT as her health worsened, making it hard to focus on her health and remain on the show.

Despite this setback, Nightbirde continued to give light to her situation.

“What a miracle that the pain I’ve walked through can be reworked into beauty that makes people all over the world open their eyes wider,” Marczewski said on Instagram.

Pulling at the heartstrings of millions of Americans — Nightbirde’s legacy will remain.
