Liberty Mountain Equestrian Center Hosts Meet and Greet

Whether it’s a trail ride, a lesson or a spot on the Equestrian Team, the horses at the Liberty Mountain Equestrian Center provide a lot of opportunities for students.

The Liberty Mountain Equestrian Center saddled up for another meet and greet on Saturday, Oct. 23 where students could meet and interact with the horses that live at the center.

Suzanne Flaig, director of Equestrian Programs and head coach for the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Team, said the open house gives students and staff the opportunity to see the horses that make these experiences possible.

“Participants can interact with the horses and students that utilize the center, while enjoying the natural beauty and tranquility of the farm,” Flaig said. “We also have some fun games and visitors can learn about different activities and programs that occur at the center throughout the year.”

According to their website, the Equestrian Center offers trail rides and riding lessons for Liberty students “who want to advance in their Hunt Seat or Western Seat riding.” It also offers the opportunity for riders to board their horses at the center.

“The Equestrian Center has offerings for all types of horse enthusiasts, from beginner level to advanced,” said Flaig. “It is also one of the premier equestrian facilities in the area with over 380 acres of beautiful grounds with exceptional amenities. It can be an opportunity for those that have never been around horses to learn and also allows for seasoned riders to further their skills.”

Riders on the Equestrian Team were able to introduce the visitors to the horses, show them the facility and discuss opportunities to be around and involved with the horses.

“I have helped with two meet and greets in the past,” senior rider Kathleen Dendulk said. “It was fun to tell them about the horses and the Equestrian Center. I enjoyed meeting new people.”

The Equestrian Center offers riding lessons of different disciplines to students. According to their website, group lessons are $25 and private lessons are $40.

According to Flaig, the Equestrian Center also offers academic classes, riding, trail rides, camps, club teams, boarding and more.

The Equestrian Center is located at 524 Traveller Ct., Rustburg, Virginia, and visiting hours are Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
