Office of Spiritual Development Redirects Their Scope with Religious Leaders for Fall Semester

The Office of Spiritual Development at Liberty University released the fall 2021 Convocation lineup on Friday, Aug. 20.

The lineup includes popular news anchors, pastors, and political figures, some familiar to Liberty and others new.

On Sept. 1, the celebration will commence in Williams Football Stadium with Liberty President Jerry Prevo and co-founder Dr. Elmer Towns.

David Jeremiah, an evangelist, author, founder of a radio and television ministry and senior pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church, will be the guest speaker for the fall semester’s first College for a Weekend on Sept. 17. Shannon Bream, Fox News Anchor and Liberty alumna (’93), will be the headline speaker for Liberty’s Homecoming Weekend on Oct. 8. Students will also have the chance to hear from former CIA Director and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Nov. 12 for a special Veteran’s Day Convocation.

Bream is especially thrilled to have the chance to address students during Convocation.

“I am beyond psyched to be on campus to worship together in Convo during Homecoming,” Bream said in a Liberty News article. “I find it incredibly inspiring to spend time with the next generation of Champions (for Christ).”

Campus Pastor Jonathan Falwell spoke about his excitement for this semester’s guests.

“We are so excited about this brand-new year here at Liberty,” newly-appointed Campus Pastor Jonathan Falwell said in a Liberty News article. “And we’re excited about what God is going to do on this campus as 15,000+ students descend on this place to learn, to grow and to hear the word of God.”

Even in quickly changing times, Liberty President Jerry Prevo looks forward to seeing how God moves through the students and campus.

“I knew our founder, Dr. Jerry Falwell Sr.,” Prevo said in Liberty News Article. “And I want you to know that he saw you way back here in 1971. He saw that you needed a university where you could come and grow in the Lord and get a first-quality education and go out and be Champions for Christ.”

Convocation begins at 10:30 a.m. EST on Wednesdays and Fridays and can be streamed on Liberty University’s Facebook page and the Office of Spiritual Development’s Facebook page.
