LUCOM’s White Coat Ceremony Recognizes 162 Students

Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine (LUCOM) hosted its annual White Coat Ceremony on Saturday, Aug. 21, recognizing the class of 2025.

The ceremony was held inside Liberty’s Center for Music & the Worship Arts and celebrated the eighth class of osteopathic medicine students.

Although last year’s ceremony had guest restrictions because of the pandemic, this year’s program allowed more guests in to watch. Families and  friends of the students were welcomed into the concert hall to be a part of this milestone for the 162 LUCOM students.

“You guys are about to enter a race that most people would say is a marathon,” said Provost and Chief Academic Officer Scott Hicks, during the ceremony.

The event was also live streamed through Liberty University Broadcasting.

During the ceremony, each student doctor walked across the stage and was presented their white coat and lapel pins.

“We firmly believe in the Class of 2025,” said Joseph R. Johnson, the Dean of LUCOM during the ceremony. “We believe in your accomplishments, we believe in your talents, we believe that you come to us well educated to be able to take on the challenge.”

To conclude the ceremony, the student doctors stood together in their white coats and spoke in unison to acknowledge their responsibility and ethical standards within the medicine field.
