Office Of Residence Life Lifts Dorms Restrictions
With Liberty University’s positive COVID-19 cases on the decline, the Office of Residence Life announced that students can now visit other residence halls.
As of March 17, the Liberty University COVID-19 Dashboard reported 19 active student cases. These active cases are instances where a positive test result has been reported within the last 10 days and the individual is accounted for until their quarantine period has ended.
The Liberty University COVID-19 Dashboard also reports that a total of 0.12% of residential campus — including residential faculty, staff and students — are currently documented as active cases as of March 17.
Executive Director of Residence Life Dustin DuBose said that the Office of Residence Life recognized the longing for community and felt that they were in a good place to lift the restriction set in place last year.
DuBose emphasizes that Gov. Ralph Northam’s lift of certain COVID-19 restrictions that went into effect March 1 also influenced the Office of Residence Life’s decision.
Although these changes are a step toward normalcy, visitors from outside of the Liberty University community are still not permitted to visit residence halls. Overnight visitors, relatives or non-relatives, are also not permitted.
“…We’re still trying to be wise with the moves we’re making,” DuBose said. “I think things are looking pretty good. I think there’s cautious optimism for sure.”
