Fall Festival fun

Students were able to take a break from hectic college life and enjoy fall traditions, such as painting pumpkins and sipping on warm apple cider. Little orange pumpkins were scattered around the grass to create a mini pumpkin patch with the Hydaway pond as the backdrop.

This year, Student Activities changed up the food options and provided a full popcorn and pie bar, which included several toppings and add ins. Dawn and Dusk Donuts, a student-run food truck selling donuts and coffee, also provided food options to event-goers.

The atmosphere was light as students partook in Camp Hydaway activities such as kayaking on the pond, driving ATVs and zip lining. In addition, SA brought novelty booths offering caricatures, state decals, photo books and leather engraving. If students wanted more of a thrill, they could take a ride on the mechanical bull or take a spin in a human gyroscope.

A local Lynchburg band, ANX, performed a few of their songs throughout the event. While students were painting their pumpkins, they could sit and enjoy ANX’s alternative sound. An event supervisor for Student Activities, Marissa Kusayamagi, commented on the Fall Festival as being a great way to bring the student body together.

“The fall season is something that everybody loves and is a great way to attract the whole student body by having it at Camp Hydaway and having a band for people who want that,” Kusayamagi said.
