Luxurious Downtown Lynchburg Hotel Reopens
The Virginian Hotel reopened its doors May 15 as a luxury boutique hotel as a part of the Curio Collection by Hilton. Nestled in the heart of downtown Lynchburg on Church Street, the city’s newest hotel is within walking distance of many restaurants, boutiques and the James River.
Although The Virginian Hotel is modernized, the design displays remnants of the hotel’s historic past.
“A unique thing to the Virginian is that a lot of the architecture is the same, so it just feels like you’re walking into another time when you see the hand-sculpted crown molding and grand marble staircase,” said Annalee Garcia, a Liberty University student who works at the hotel.
The Virginian opened as a hotel in 1913 and had various uses since then. It served as housing in the 1960s, dorms for Liberty Baptist College in the 1980s and then remained vacant for several years. After years of refurbishment and millions of dollars in repairs, the hotel is once again in business.
The Virginian Hotel is committed to customer satisfaction.
“A lot of things set The Virginian apart, but the number one reason that sets us apart is our team,” said Cindy Draws, the Virginian Lynchburg’s director of sales and marketing. “They are engaged and go above and beyond. They treat everyone like a VIP.”
Another aspect that makes The Virginian Hotel special is that some of its team members are affiliated with Liberty University. Garcia claims that Liberty families were likely their largest clientele this summer, and that the hotel is nearly booked for Commencement next May. She added that Liberty alumni will visit the hotel just to stay in what used to be their former dorm rooms.
The Virginian is conveniently located just minutes away from Liberty University’s campus. Draws said the nearby presence of Liberty generates revenue for the hotel. The hotel even partnered with Liberty in the past for charity events and board meetings.
The hotel offers an 8,000-square-foot event space and it serves as the perfect spot for meetings, conferences and receptions. The talented sales team plans events. The Virginian’s 1900s-style ballroom is also a beautiful location for engagements and weddings.
Other amenities include a gift shop, convenience store, a 24-hour business center and a 24-hour fitness center. The Virginian of Lynchburg is also home to the Marigold Café, as well as Skyline, their signature rooftop restaurant and bar.
The Virginian also offers a plethora of options for room preferences, including suites suitable for executive guests and family stays.
Clinging to its historic roots while paving the way for the future of the downtown area, The Virginian makes Lynchburg an even greater place to live. More information can be found on The Virginian Hotel website.
