A semester of fun

Student Activities offers concerts, games and trips

For the upcoming semester, Student Activities (SA) has put together a full calendar of new and exciting events.

According to event coordinator Erin Diaz, Spring Coffeehouse is the most anticipated event this semester.

Coffeehouse is typically a memorable end to each semester, filled with performances by Liberty’s most talented dancers, singers and performers.

Every year, SA works hard to create themes for the event that are fun and interactive for the students.

This semester’s theme for Coffeehouse is the music and culture of the 2000s — something that many of Liberty’s millennial-born students are familiar with.

Tryouts for Coffeehouse will be held Feb. 20 – 24. Students have the opportunity to try out to perform onstage in front of thousands of their peers at this event.

While not everyone gets into the show, there are a lot of ways to get involved with Coffeehouse, such as creating a fun video to play that night or volunteering to help at the event.

Other activities that will be held this semester include the second installment of Lip-Sync Battles, where students can pick a song to perform—mouthing the words without singing.

The performers will battle against other students, and a winner will be chosen.

This event will also be an approved late-night event for on-campus students.

This semester, the second annual Community Yard Sale will be held on April 29.

This is a fun event where both students and members of the community can buy and sell goods before the end of the school year.

Diaz is also excited about the concerts being done through SA — especially for the Ben Rector concert, which will be held Feb. 18.

Another favorite is the Open Mic nights that occur throughout the semester, which will now be held in the Tea Room Café in the newly-built Student Union.

Bingo Night will also be hosted by SA this semester.

According to Diaz, a lot of students usually attend and fill up the room.

“It gets very competitive, and people really get into it,” Diaz said.

A “Lord of the Rings” movie marathon will be held, with each movie being shown on a separate night.

Outdoor movie nights will also be held at the Dorm 28 fields, where students can sit on a blanket, eat snacks and enjoy movies outside with their friends.

Other highlights of the upcoming semester are Trivia Night, Game Night, Photo Expo, Hill City Hunt and a Laser Tag Tournament.

The date and times of these activities can be found on the SA page on the Liberty webpage.

The staff at SA is working hard to make this semester fun and enjoyable for students.

“I think that people will enjoy it,” Diaz said. “If they don’t, we will keep changing things to make it better.”
