Filled with farmers selling local produce and artisans selling handmade creations, the Lynchburg Community Market has existed since 1783 in downtown Lynchburg.

The venue is located downtown on 12th and Main Street, where it hosts a variety of items for their Tuesdays through Saturdays from 7 a.m. – 2 p.m. year round.

From baked goods to flowers and produce, there is plenty to browse through at the market. Vendors set up inside and outside to display their products and share their stories with
interested customers.

According to Carter Hailey of Rivermont Specialty Baking, participating in the community market has been pivotal to his bakery’s success.

“We started here on (July 29),” Hailey said. “My wife … has been making our signature Orange Blossom, which used to be very popular around the Lynchburg area. People kept asking us about our Orange Blossoms, so we decided to sell them to the public. One of the great things about the Lynchburg Market is that it draws multiple aspects of the Lynchburg community.”

The Hailey’s are just one example of several vendors who are able to advertise their local home businesses to the public with a table display at the market.

The Lynchburg Market is also active on social media. With its hashtag “Lynchburgisforlocavors” visitors are able to engage with market vendors by posting pictures of purchases made during their visit to the market.
