Who Is On the Throne?

Mustard Seed Chronicles: Story Time with LU Grandma

For years, when I was a Student Advocate at Liberty University, I met with lots of students who had a myriad of issues. There were many who were trying to run their own lives and found it impossible to do it. They did not know what to do and they were exhausted from the stress of it. God gave me a tool to help them. It may be a tool that you need in this season of your life, or perhaps in a coming season. Here’s how God instructed me to help them.

He had me put a chair in the middle of the room.

I would say, “This is the throne of your life. Jesus sits here. Please come here and tell Him to get off!”

Most would look at me as if I was nuts, but I would tell them, “Jesus gave this to me, so He understands.  Please, just do it.”

They would do it. Then I would say, “Now, you sit down there.” Tentatively and a bit puzzled, they would.

Then, I would ask them, “How does that make you feel?” Most said they were uncomfortable; they didn’t like it.

“The problems you are having are happening because you have actually done this in your mind and in your heart. You have been telling God how you think He should be running things and they aren’t working out the way you had planned. So, what do you want to do?”

The student would jump out of the chair and ask Jesus to sit back down where He belonged. Oh, how my heart would smile for the Lord!

So, Folks, who is on the throne of your life today? There is only One Rightful Owner of that throne and He willingly gave His holy life to pay for our sinful one so that we can have eternal life with Him totally forgiven. He is the only all-knowing One who is in all-time all the time. Would it not make sense to have Him there guiding you in the way He knows is best for you because He loves you so much?

What’s the best way to live? Let God rule. Yield your life to Him.

Prayer:

Abba Father, we can be so headstrong in our thinking and we struggle to be self-sufficient. We do a horrible job of it. Please forgive us! Please sit back on the Throne and rule our lives as You see fit and we will praise You!

Jesus, we pray this in Your Holy and Precious name, Amen!
