Biography

Dr. Johnson currently serves as the Director of Clinical Training for the Department of Counselor Education and Family Studies with Liberty University as well as the Director of the Marriage and Family Therapy (online) program. Prior to joining the faculty at Liberty, Dr. Johnson worked as the Director of Behavioral Science for a Family Practice Residency program in Texas.  Dr. Johnson is a licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS). He has practiced as a professional counselor and marriage and family therapist since 1994 in a part-time private practice capacity.  He has experience as both a faculty supervisor and an individual supervisor for students and resident practitioners.  He is a member of American Counseling Association (ACA) and Association of Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES), Virginia Counselors Association (VCA), Virginia Counselor Education and Supervision (VACES), Lynchburg Area Counseling Association (LACA), and the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT).  His areas of interest include Marital therapy, Supervision, Medical Family Therapy, and Grief Recovery counseling.
