Biography

Dr. Kristi Cronan is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Georgia, an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) through the National Board for Certified Counselors, and a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor™ (RPT-S™ ) through the Association for Play Therapy. She earned her Master of Arts in Professional Counseling at Liberty University and her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision at Regent University.  She partners with top counselor training programs across the nation to mentor and develop the next generation of mental health clinicians, and she frequently speaks at national conferences in areas related to her research and clinical interests. Most commonly her research explores Evangelical Purity Culture, religious and spiritual abuse within high-demand religion, ethical and multiculturally informed care for diverse populations, and play therapy for children, teens, and adults. Additionally, Dr. Cronan has served as a faculty member and clinical supervisor with the International Institute for Postgraduate Education in Ukraine.

Dr. Cronan is the owner, director, and clinical supervisor at her private practice in north-metro Atlanta. For over a decade, she has partnered with diverse clients to support a wide variety of mental health needs. Her clinical care is most commonly centered in psychodynamic, experiential, Gestalt, or Adlerian therapy approaches. For clients with a trauma history or obsessive-compulsive disorder, she also values cognitive behavioral therapy approaches like cognitive processing therapy and exposure and response/ritual prevention. Regardless of the approach used, Dr. Cronan prioritizes empirically supported, individualized treatment plans that are neurologically informed, developmentally appropriate, attachment-focused, and aligned with the American Counseling Association’s Code of Ethics and Multicultural and Social Justice Counseling Competencies (MSJCC) that govern the clinical counseling profession.
