Biography

Dr. McCarthy has been a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) since 1997 specializing in treating families and children in various school settings and in private practice. Dr. McCarthy is also an Associate Professor teaching graduate clinical and school counseling courses. Dr. McCarthy provides consultation and counseling to many elementary and high schools in addition to providing educational services to parents and students. Areas of research for Dr. McCarthy are online learning; technology and youth; trauma exposure and reaction in youth; school-based mental health services; and youth that are at-risk of not completing school. Dr. McCarthy is a member of the American Counseling Association, American Association of Christian Counselors, American School Counselor Association, Association of Counselor Education and Supervision, Chi Sigma lota Rho Eta Nu Alpha Rho, Maine Counseling Association, Maine School Counseling Association, and the National Board of Certified Counselors.
