ASL Club and Honor Society

The ASL Club provides Liberty University students and faculty interested in American Sign Language (ASL), ASL Interpreting (ASLI), and the ASL Honor Society with opportunities to explore language, culture, and professionalism beyond the classroom.

Students and faculty are able to engage with the Deaf community and be recognized for their academic achievements. Activities include weekly Signing Socials, an Honor Society Induction Ceremony, ASL/English interpreting workshops, scheduled time with Deaf senior citizens, Liberty University’s Scaremare, holiday celebrations, Eye Worship (a worship service conducted in partnership with the Deaf church), an end-of-the-year gala, and more.


Purpose

Liberty University’s chapter of the American Sign Language Honor Society exists

  • To recognize academic achievement through medals, awards, competitions, etc.
  • To foster community service and leadership.

Requirements

Upcoming Juniors and Seniors who wish to become members of the ASL Honor Society must meet the following requirements:

  • 3.00 overall GPA
  • 3.50 GPA or higher in ASL coursework

Once accepted, members are required to:

  • Pay $25 in dues
  • Submit the formal invitation letter
