Biography
Dr. Janet Brown is the Residential Department Chair for the Family and Consumer Science Department. She is an Assistant Professor with specialization in Family and Child Development.
Dr. Brown began teaching in higher education at Liberty University online courses in Christian Counseling. She has previously worked in the Student Care Office at Liberty University with college students in the areas of lay counseling and life skills. Prior to coming to Liberty, she worked within public school systems with elementary-age children.
Dr. Brown has served in church ministry for over thirty years. Areas of focus includes children, youth, and women’s ministries.
In addition to teaching at the university, Dr. Brown is the Vice President of NextGenMatters, LLC. and works alongside her husband, Dr. Richard Brown, to equip the next generation of leaders.
On a personal note, Dr. Brown enjoys spending time with her husband of 39 years, 3 adult children and their spouses, and 4 grandchildren. She enjoys her sweet labradors, traveling to new places, container gardening, walking, and time with friends.
