Biography
Dr. Pensgard has taught at the college level since 2009 at various institutions, including Patrick Henry College, The Catholic University of America, William Woods University, and Northern Virginia Community College.
He is the author of one book and various articles covering such topics as Hegel’s Philosophical System, Hegel’s Ontological Argument and Logical Doctrine; Husserl’s Phenomenology of Internal-Time Consciousness; Comparison of Yogacara Buddhism and Christian Theology; and Comparison of Hegel’s philosophy and the theology of Karl Rahner. He has also presented conference papers on Husserl, the Philosophy of Time, Existential Temporality, and the Epistemology of Memory. His 2018 dissertation interprets Hegel’s philosophy as a systematic, modal ontological argument and offers a formal proof of the validity of Sublation, which he interprets, controversially, as a deduction.
His concentrations include Metaphysics and Ontology, Phenomenology, Philosophy of Time, and Formal/Symbolic Logic. His current research project seeks to bolster contemporary ontological argumentation using the insights given by Hegel.
