Carey Roberts, Ph.D.

Biography

Dr. Roberts is Professor of History and Online Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. He earned an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina in History.  Dr. Roberts previously held positions at the University of South Carolina, the South Caroliniana Library, The Papers of John C. Calhoun, Arkansas Tech University, and Yorktown University.  His administrative experience includes positions in university assessment and accreditation and served as a department chair and associate dean.  He currently serves on the board of the Abbeville Institute (a scholarly organization dedicated to studying the American South).  His research interests include early American intellectual and economic history and has lectured and published widely in the fields of the American Founding, monetary and banking history, American intellectual life, and southern literature.  He has been a ruling elder in the Presbyterian Church of America and the Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
