Biography
Bruce K. Bell earned his Doctor of Philosophy from Walden University in 2000, specializing in applied management and decision sciences. Immediately after completing this degree, he became dean of the School of Business at Liberty University, where he had taught Business Communications since 1996. In addition to his responsibilities on the deans’ council at Liberty University, he served the university as a member of the advising task force, a faculty senator, chairman of the athletics subcommittee, member of the academic quality and engagement task force, member of the student course evaluation committee, and member of the Freshman Seminar committee.
In July 2011, Dr. Bell became Associate Dean, College of General Studies, and in 2016 he became Associate Dean, College of Arts and Sciences. In the fall of 2019 he assumed additional duties as the acting chair of the English Department until 2020. He retired from full-time duties in 2022 and serves currently as adjunct faculty.
His doctoral research and dissertation analyzed the role of e-mail on information overload in organizational managers. From 2003 to 2011 he served as editor of the Liberty Business Review, authored a chapter in College Faith: 150 Christian Leaders and Educators Share Faith Stories from their Student Days, and served as reviewer for several textbooks in Business Communications. Moreover, he has authored an unpublished textbook on Biblical and Mythological References in Literature for the U.S. Military Academy Preparatory School and has written numerous book reviews and articles for various publications.
Dr. Bell came to Liberty University after serving 26 years as an officer in the U.S. Army, retiring in 1996 as a lieutenant colonel at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. His B.A. and M.A. degrees are in English, both from Penn State University.
