Residential Minor in American Sign Language (ASL)

Learn to understand and communicate with individuals who utilize American Sign Language (ASL) through a minor in American Sign Language from Liberty University. Develop an understanding of the differences between the Deaf and hearing cultures and gain insight into interpreting for the Deaf community. Achieve language proficiency through classroom instruction and hands-on practice both on and off campus.

Study with ASL instructors who are Deaf and have native fluency of the language. Learn interpreting from professors with professional experience working as certified ASL-English interpreters, some of whom were raised by Deaf parents using ASL as their primary language. All program faculty are strong in their Christian faith and dedicated to your success.

Whether you intend to work within the Deaf community, or just want to enhance your ability to communicate with those around you, the ASL minor will provide you with an understanding of ASL that will allow you to serve and communicate with individuals in all contexts who use ASL.
