Rosemary Shakro; Liberty University Graduate & Administrative Assistant

for Bibles in Schools

When asked about her favorite memory on campus, Rosemary fondly recalls her experience at convocation. “One of my best memories while at Liberty was attending convocation and having the privilege of hearing from pastors and other well-known speakers weekly. Additionally, meeting some of my best lifelong friends as we encourage each other in the Lord.” She also mentioned the Liberty legacy left on her family. “My three younger brothers also attended and graduated from Liberty University. We are a true Liberty family. One of my brothers and I had the opportunity to walk together in the graduation ceremony in 2017.”

In addition to her role at Bibles in Schools, Rosemary is also an online adjunct instructor part-time for Liberty University College of Applied Studies and Academic Success (CASAS). She enjoys encouraging her students academically and spiritually, ensuring they are aware of the resources available at Liberty. Rosemary Shakro’s dedication to her faith and education is truly inspiring, making a significant impact on students and educators alike. Rosemary Shakro obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education: Integrative Studies, Social Science (2012). Along with her Masters of Education in Teaching and Learning: Student Services (2017). Rosemary is currently serving as the Administrative Assistant to Hannah Sailsbury, the Founder of the non-profit organization Bibles in Schools, since the beginning of 2023. Hannah, a Liberty University alumna, established Bibles in Schools with a mission to donate engaging Bibles to public school libraries and other educational facilities, including Juvenile Detention Centers, across the United States.

Since its inception in 2019, Bibles in Schools has made remarkable strides, donating Bibles to over 3,600 public schools nationwide. This past year marked a significant milestone as the organization expanded its reach to all 50 states. Rosemary expresses her gratitude for being part of this mission, helping to spread the Word of God in public schools. The students particularly love the Action Bibles, which resemble graphic novels, making them highly engaging.

The demand for these Bibles has been overwhelming, with several librarians across the country requesting more copies due to high demand. Students are eager to read the Bible, and there are even waiting lists to check them out. The organization’s reach continues to grow, which is incredibly exciting for Rosemary and the team.

In October 2023, Rosemary and Hannah had the opportunity to speak to undergraduate classes at the Liberty University School of Education. They shared insights about their organization and emphasized the legal rights that students should know they have as future teachers, in regarding the presence of the Bible in public schools. It is important to note that the Bible is recognized as a historical document and is included in state standards of learning.
