How it Works

  1. Liberty University students enrolled in the aviation degree program can apply for the Spirit Wings Pilot Pathway program after completing their sophomore year or 500 hours of total flight time and obtaining a recommendation from a faculty member.
  2. Qualified students are interviewed by Spirit and, if selected, given a conditional offer of employment (COE).
  3. Program pilots are mentored as they work toward completing their degree program and the required hours for the Restricted Airline Transport Pilot (R-ATP) certificate.
  4. After meeting minimum requirements for the R-ATP certificate, program pilots must successfully complete the Spirit-funded and approved Airline Transport Pilot Certification Training Program (ATP CTP) and Jet Transition Course.
  5. Graduates who meet all Spirit Wings Pilot Pathway program requirements are hired as Airbus A320 First Officers at Spirit.
